Unfortunately I've already tried that but it > doesn't make any difference. Still I can only find the scanner as root. Maybe I forgot something. I have an Epson 1640SU which works fine here. The only other setting in /etc/devfs.rules that might matter is add path 'xpt*' mode 0660 group operator
