All, After removing all ports and starting completely fresh, I have installed KDE 2.2.2 and everything is sizing up correctly. I have been meaning to clean up my system, so I took this opportunity to do so. Thanks Michael Mercer ps: I could not believe how many ports I had installed. whew!!!
