Hi Mike,
It sounds like Amanda would actually be perfect for you to use. While =
tapes are commonly used with amanda it does not require tapes at all. =
Additionally,  underneath Amanda's array of "amcommands" is the same =
Unix tools you just mentioned - tar and dump. Also, amanda (+samba, I =
think) will also be able to back up the windows servers.

If the tape issue was the only thing that was keeping amanda out of the =
picture then it may be a good time to reconsider. I have had very good =
success using amanda for about the last 5 years, here's the link in case =
