Well, I suppose hiding links under proto names should not lengthen lines too
much ;) Then, left part may be shortened to just hostname.

someting like (html form)

ftp3.ie.freebsd.org
<a href="ftp://ftp3.ie.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/">ftp</a>; /
<a href="http://ftp3.ie.freebsd.org/">http</a>; /
<a href="rsync://ftp3.ie.freebsd.org/">rsync</a>

should be both compact and logical enough. Not ready to provide a patch yet,
sorry :)

Sincerely,
D.Marck [DM5020, MCK-RIPE, DM3-RIPN]
