I have this SunFire v40z (as far as I can tell, it is a rebadged Newisys 4100. Sopposedly, sun manufactured it, but I can't find any difference between it and the specs for the 4100) for testing- 4 CPUs, 8G ram, seperate 'service' processor that acts as a serial server and remote rebooter. So far, it looks very nice, save for one problem. I can not boot a PAE kernel off the onboard SCSI. A rather large problem. I have the box netbooting right now. It works fine, save for the LSILogic SCSI. mpt0: <LSILogic 1030 Ultra4 Adapter> port 0x2000-0x20ff mem \ 0xe5820000-0xe582fff f,0xe5830000-0xe583ffff irq 19 at device 4.0 on pci2 mpt0: error 16 creating per-cmd DMA maps mpt0: Could not allocate DMA memory %uname -a FreeBSD 4.10-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.10-RELEASE #0: Wed Oct 20 12:11:08 PDT 2004 luke@:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/SMP_PAE i386 full dmesg from the successful netboot follows: Copyright (c) 1992-2004 The FreeBSD Project.
