[...snip...] You might also want to change the indirection scheme somewhat for a mail server, to gain another two direct blocks while losing the double and triple indirect blocks. This depends on whether the users are expected to send gargantuan mails, however. You might hack the mail program to deposit the larger files on another volume, backed by FFS. Also, you'd probably want to back the central directory to a raw device to avoid indirection.
