The new bootblocks are backwards compatible with the old bootblocks (or will be before you are required to do the upgrade on your boxes.) So, install the bootlbocks first thing, then do the rest of the ELF upgrade. , by which time it's too late because you have replaced the kernel > and you can no longer boot.
