As in the past we will keep you up-to-date with what is happening in golf, have a bit of humour, a few tips and, of course, a regular Rules Question. Just to keep you on your toes each month. Well, what say we get on with it. ** Rule 14-1B ------------------------------------------------------------ Last Tuesday was an interesting day filled with announcements from The USGA and the R&A regarding Rule 14-1B. This rule will ban the use of an anchored putting stroke, and will become effective on January 1st, 2016. The PGA has lined up against the ban, and they will have to decide if they want to comply, or play golf under a different set of rules. Wow! Adam Scott is determined to keep using the broomstick motion that swept him to Masters glory. Interestingly it is anchoring to the chest, midriff or other part of the body which is banned – not the broomstick or belly putter. Scott feels he can adjust his stroke with his broomstick to comply with the new Rule. Peter Senior reckons 2016 will be a good time to retire. ------------------------------------------------------------ Golfer: "I think I'm going to drown myself in the lake." He removes a leaf from behind his ball and plays out into deep rough. As he is searching for his ball he accidentally kicks it forward a few inches. He picks up his ball, cleans it and replaces it where it was before he caused it to move. He then pitches his ball onto the putting green and sinks a good 15-foot putt.
