Thanks again. I had to start virtual_oss and then immediately run virtual_bt_speaker. It works but is a bit tedious to set up. I wonder why virtual_bt_speaker is a separate program, and whether it could be combined with virtual_oss. If that seems reasonable I could try to implement it, it'd make configuration via rc.d simpler.
