 If somebody decides to do anything about this - is there a reason that
 the patch in the base system is still at 2.1?  Yes, I know there is
 a 2.5 port, and I'm using it, and it fixes a lot of weirdness with 2.1,
 e.g. in dealing with newly created/removed files.
