I'd suggest changing the above line to:
test -f ${DESTDIR}/modules/* && \
cp -p ${DESTDIR}/modules/* ${DESTDIR}/modules.old
I haven't tested it, but it should work.

> cd $S/modules && env MAKEOBJDIRPREFIX=${.OBJDIR}/modules ${MAKE}
> install
