I am what you would refer to as a newbie to FreeBSD but have installed on several Intel Pentium platforms and am using for several potential applications. I would like to develop 'thin server' type applications employing the IP network stack and use FreeBSD and 80386-class PC/104 SBCs to host. These would have no hard drive, only a small flash disk or disk-on-chip device. This is a perfect application for Embedded Linux ... but I don't want to use Linux! I would much prefer FreeBSD ... for a number of technical and political reasons. Is there an 'embedded' version of FeeeBSD that would support this type of application? I have heard mention of PicoBSD but have not yet attempted to research it ... thought I'd ask for specific direction if something is available.
