I have 2.2.5 at work so can't check the "single character" right now,
but the point I was trying to raise is that for "newcomers" this
message doesn't stay long enough.

I knew for sure that there would be a place to change it, but I never
read it anyway so "I" don't need to increase. I just think that if we
make it longer there would be a benefit to new users. By default
there are options that are power user friendly (in this case the
message doesn't stay long), but ill suited for new comers. I think it
should be the other way around. If a setting can be changed and saved
to a configuration file and the setting has a "friendly" mode then
the default should be the friendly mode (ie the screen stays longer).
