Yeah, I'm running into that issue too.  For now, I'm starting to locally 
mirror distfiles for all of the ports I maintain (at least that way, people 
asking where's the distfile for so-and-so, I can actually answer them).

Anyway, if you need a place, I've got (some) bandwidth available...
