Some thoughts to narrow down on possibilities.

How do you specify what pool to boot from?
There are multiple options:
- vfs.root.mountfrom=zfs:...  in /boot/loader.conf
- zpool get all | grep bootfs
- Some cachefile. I think this is legacy. I don't see it on my ZFS anymore.
- A definition in /etc/fstab. But I guess the FS must be mounted first before this can be read.
- And probably other options I don't know about.

And somewhere in the boot messages you should have a line like this. What does it say?
"Trying to mount root from zfs:zrpi4/ROOT/14-2022_03_09"

And what is the output of "gpart show"?

I am baffled. On another machine, a Lenovo laptop I get to the message about &quot;no pools available to import&quot; and the machine hangs there.<br />

Some thoughts to narrow down on possibilities.<br />

How do you specify what pool to boot from?<br />
There are multiple options:<br />
- vfs.root.mountfrom=zfs:...&nbsp; in /boot/loader.conf<br />
- zpool get all | grep bootfs<br />
- Some cachefile. I think this is legacy. I don't see it on my ZFS anymore.<br />
- A definition in /etc/fstab. But I guess the FS must be mounted first before this can be read.<br />
- And probably other options I don't know about.<br />

And somewhere in the boot messages you should have a line like this. What does it say?<br />
&quot;Trying to mount root from zfs:zrpi4/ROOT/14-2022_03_09&quot;<br />
<br />
And what is the output of &quot;gpart show&quot;?<br />
