The config I used for the Soekris 4521 was identical to http://www.ultradesic.com/pub/FreeBSD-6.2_Files/NET4521 with the addition of the wi and ath modules device ath # Atheros cardbus/PCI NIC's device ath_hal # Atheros HAL Hardware Acces Layer device ath_rate_sample # SampleRate tx rate control for ath Why this solved the problem beats me, but the system has been running stable now with the CM9 card (AR5212) for several days and also (on a different system) I see no error messages with the WML54AGP23 (AR5414) card.
