>Description:
I attempted to install FreeBSD 4.2-RELEASE,4.3-RELEASE and 4.3-CURRENT
on my PC. The install hangs up right after I resolve the hardware conflicts
when it says "Probing Devices.... (This may take a while)"
However, I was able to install 3.5.1 with no problems, eventhough it did not
recognize my CD-ROM. I installed it from a FAT32 partition from another disk.
My hardware configuration :
-Compaq Deskpro EN Series (Intel 600 MHz, 256 MB RAM)

Disk2 -Primary Slave - Maxtor - 30GB)
both attached to my primary IDE Channel - IRQ 14 - (I/O) 0x01F0 - 0x01F7,0x03F6 - 0x03F6
-Memorex 48 X CD-ROM (ATAPI) - Secondary Slave - Secondary IDE

Software Inventory on my PC:
- DISK 1 has WINDOWS 98, WINDOWS 2000 and RedHat Linux 7.1 and this disk is full
- DISK 2 is brand new and now has FreeBSD 3.5.1 installed on it after I was
unable to install 4.2, 4.3 and 4.3 Current.
>How-To-Repeat:
Machine with same configuration (more importantly with the Intel Pro/100 LAN
Adapter) should reproduce this error.
>Fix:
Disabling the Intel Pro/100 LAN Adapter from BIOS took me to the next stage of
installation.
