This system comes with an embedded video driver that I am trying to disable. I was able to do this in stable 4.3 but not in 4.4, The problem is XFree86 4.1.0 dies with: (II) ATI: ATI driver (version 6.3.6) for chipsets: ati, ativga (II) R128: Driver for ATI Rage 128 chipsets: ATI Rage 128 RE (PCI), ATI Rage 128 RF (AGP), ATI Rage 128 RG (AGP), ATI Rage 128 RK (PCI), ATI Rage 128 RL (AGP), ATI Rage 128 Pro PD (PCI), ATI Rage 128 Pro PF (AGP), ATI Rage 128 Mobility LE (PCI), ATI Rage 128 Mobility LF (AGP), ATI Rage 128 Mobility MF (AGP), ATI Rage 128 Mobility ML (AGP) (II) RADEON: Driver for ATI Radeon chipsets: ATI Radeon QD (AGP), ATI Radeon QE (AGP), ATI Radeon QF (AGP), ATI Radeon QG (AGP), ATI Radeon VE (AGP) (II) Primary Device is: PCI 02:0a:0 (WW) RADEON: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:0) found (WW) RADEON: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:2:10:0) found (EE) No devices detected. _________________ I take this to mean the resources needed by the RADEON went to the ATI Rage 128, the built in card. In the BIOS can can disable the port and memory on The RAGE card, but not the card itself. The parts of dmesg that seem to be related: : pcib0: <Intel 82443BX (440 BX) host to PCI bridge> on motherboard pci0: <PCI bus> on pcib0 pcib1: <Intel 82443BX (440 BX) PCI-PCI (AGP) bridge> at device 1.0 on pci0 pci1: <PCI bus> on pcib1 pci1: <ATI Mach64-GW graphics accelerator> at 0.0 pcib2: <DEC 21152 PCI-PCI bridge> at device 2.0 on pci0 pci2: <PCI bus> on pcib2 pci2: <ATI model 5144 graphics accelerator> at 10.0 irq 5 : vga0: <Generic ISA VGA> at port 0x3c0-0x3df iomem 0xa0000-0xbffff on isa0 sc0: <System console> at flags 0x100 on isa0 sc0: VGA <16 virtual consoles, flags=0x300> Any thoughts greatly appreciated Doug Denault To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-hardware" in the body of the message
