I set up the kernel and boot.

The boot then crashes at (after?) the harddisk detection.

      Harddisk seems to check out OK. It's a completely new machine, maybe some pragma in BIOS is needed (where/what).

This Asus A7M didn't even get to the starting blocks. Please say I didn't waste time on this.
