I'm just posting this so that maybe someone else having the same problem will find this message of use at some point in the future. Looking around for information on "fatal trap 12" crashes, it seems almost all of them are hardware related usually. And in my case, I think that still holds true. I recalled finally that I had recently added a third stick of Corsair XMMS DDR memory to this machine (for a total of three 256MB DDR DIMM's) and that my stability issues seemed to crop up shortly afterwards! So far, after removing the third stick of memory, the machine has been running stably with no problems at all. Searching around on deja.com, this seems to be a somewhat common problem with various motherborads. So I guess, buyer beware! Like I said, hopefully this will help someone else in the future who is unfortunate enough to put three sticks of DDR memory into a machine and suddenly starts seeing bizarre stability issues! :) -- Mark Nipper e-contacts: Computing and Information Services nipsy@tamu.edu Texas A&M University http://ops.tamu.edu/nipsy/ College Station, TX 77843-3142 AIM/Yahoo: texasnipsy ICQ: 66971617 (979)575-3193 MSN: nipsy@tamu.edu -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK----- GG/IT d- s++:+ a-- C++$ UBL+++$ P--->+++ L+++$ E--- W++ N+ o K++ w(---) O++ M V(--) PS+++(+) PE(--) Y+ PGP++(+) t 5 X R tv b+++ DI+(++) D+ G e h r++ y+(**) ------END GEEK CODE BLOCK------ ---begin random quote of the moment--- Spelling mistakes left as an exercise for the reader. ----end random quote of the moment---- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
