I realize that this one should be dumped in the questions, but since current is so recent others will probably look here for the answer. To the install team, could you add a note on upgrades that the format has changed on the named boot file? There are still alot of sites that don't update often. Thanks to Graeme Cox there is also a somewhat recent HTML version available. We sign some of our software distributions using PGP. A discussion of BIND and load balancing. John Gilmore made a Secure DNS information and software download site. Click there, click on 8.1.2 Configuration File Guide. You'll notice that Vix has completely rearranged the syntax. This is what's causing your BIND error message and the failure to start. Simply convert over to the new format and you'll be back in biz. There's an easily editable exmample too.
