1. Uh, which version of FreeBSD are you even talking about? 2. Try booting /kernel.GENERIC at your boot: prompt. It could be that just one step failed during the install, but that you can copy /kernel.GENERIC to /kernel after the system boots. 3. Please don't send these things to freebsd-doc; this is a mailing list for discussing the documentation, not doing tech support.
