Lots, lots, lots, lots, and so on.

Oh, you wanted a non-facetious answer? OK.

The current incarnation of cvsup3/ftp5 is a 1-GHz Pentium III server
running 4.4. It has a full GByte of RAM, and is using about 100
MBytes of swap space. It is limited to 24 cvsup clients, 4 rsync
clients, and 100 ftp clients (today's average 17, max 41). Network
utilization averages 4 Mbit/s (most of which is FTP); peaks are up
around 12 Mbit/s.

Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity iused ifree %iused Mounted on
/dev/ccd0c 93G 54G 31G 63% 289135 973839 23% /y/ftp/pub/FreeBSD

At present all 10 ftp clients are retrieveing CD images or idle.
You'll find that there are some obnoxious people (or client programs)
out there which will waste lots of process slots by opening half a
dozen connections simultaneously; I deny access to those users.
