The sound works with FreeBSD 4.2 RELEASE but not with 4.5. It may have actually been broaken around 4.4 or so. % cat /dev/sndstat FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Feb 14 2002 21:20:52 Installed devices: pcm0: <OPL3-SAx (YMF719)> at io 0x530 irq 10 drq 1 (1p/1r/0v channels) I can cat a file to /dev/audio and get sound for about one second. Then the sound stops and pcm0 reports the error. >How-To-Repeat: Using Tecra 8000 laptop, build kernel with the following line: device pcm0 at isa? irq 10 drq 1 flags 0x0 Then send some data to it: % cat /kernel > /dev/audio An audio file might sound better but if the problem is happening you will only get about one second of kernel music. >Fix: Is it normal for one's brain to mealt down while reading source code? >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-bugs" in the body of the message
