I've added a user and she complains about not being able to do
certain shells commands. I finger her acct to make sure it exists and it
does:
root@shell1:~# finger countv
Login: countv Name: countv
Directory: /home/users/countv Shell: /usr/local/bin/tcsh
On since Sat Oct 4 10:55 (PDT) on ttyp1, idle 0:03, (messages off)
from 128.200.244.48
No Mail.
No Plan.
root@shell1:~# id countv
uid=1032(countv) gid=1000(users) groups=1000(users)
So I 'su' as her and I finger her again:
V /home/users/countv> finger countv
finger: countv: no such user
V /home/users/countv> pine
Who are you? (Unable to look up login name)
V /home/users/countv> id
uid=1032 gid=1000 groups=1000
The funny thing is, I did this:
V /home/users/countv> finger
No one logged on.
V /home/users/countv> w
