I had this idea before I overtook maintainership for mysql. 8-) We should do it in a clean way. We should not copy mysql322 to mysql322-client and change a few lines only. Instead I'd like to have all the magic in mysql322 (which should be renamed to mysql322-server then, btw.) mysql322-client/Makefile would set CLIENT_ONLY=yes and use mysql322 as a master port. Thus we can have a mysql322-client package from which others (e. g. gmysql, xmysql, xmysqladmin) can take benefit of.
