I compiled xanim out of the ports collection last night because I
wanted to try out the new codecs. Unfortunately, the executable I got
was less functional than the one I started with (2.70.7.0) - for
example it won't read quicktime with the Cinepak codec.

I tried to load the downloadable codecs from the Xanim page at
http://xanim.va.pubnix.com/xa_dlls.html . I downloaded the various
linux (ELF) codecs, but when I run xanim it reports that dlopen failed
because of unresolved symbols. (The symbols are stderr or
_IO_stderr_ depending on the version of the library that the DLL uses)
I'm assuming this is because because none of the DLLs is compiled with
BSD's libc.

Questions: Has anyone gotten xanim to work with the dynamic codecs?
If so how? If not, would it be worthwhile to ask Mark Podlipec to
compile us a set for FreeBSD dlls, and what would we need to give him
to do so (presumably a copy of our libc would be sufficient)?
