You really can't beat Amavisd-new acting as the glue between your
MTA, clamav doing the virus filtering, and spamassassin doing the
spam filtering.

http://www.flakshack.com/anti-spam/ is probably the best documentation of
an implementation.

http://www.imladris.sk/howto/ is an example of Qmail & FreeBSD utilizing
amavisd-new.
