It doesn't, however I can communicate with other machines on my local
network thru entries in /etc/hosts.  As I said, "short term fix".
What it buys me is a current kernel that stays up and runs gdb
without panic'ing!  The problem is being worked on by the appropriate
person(s) and I suspect a real fix will arrive shortly!
