Timezone abbreviations are purely tourist information; there is no process by which one can take an abbreviation and divine a timezone. Indeed, there are about ten difference places in the (English-speaking) world which use the abbreviation `EST' at various times during the year. See /usr/src/share/zoneinfo/africa for the rules used to choose which locations and which abbreviations to represent. -GAWollman -- Garrett A.
