The SAMBA suite allows for network connectivity using Windows domain
network protocols. However, according to the man page for samba the domain
controller option in the smb.conf is deprecated. It is my understanding
though that Samba is capable of being a domain controller (PDC, not sure
but probably, and BDC, yes) man 7 samba, man 8 smbd, man 5 smb.conf, man 8
nmbd
