Ok, but without the patch I am not able to send any mail. All mail
gets deferred;

Apr 15 07:48:04 slurp sendmail[99622]: i3F5m26P099513: to=root, ctladdr=root (0/0), delay=00:00:02, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=120265, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection refused by [127.0.0.1]

A computer running 5.2-CURRENT from sometime in March lists these
processes:

root     441  0.0  0.6  3572 1552  ??  Ss   26Mar04   1:03.78 sendmail: accepting connections (sendmail)
smmsp    444  0.0  0.5  3448 1356  ??  Ss   26Mar04   0:01.40 sendmail: Queue runner@00:30:00 for /var/spool/clientmqueue (sendmail)

which listens on:
[stud326] /etc/mail# sockstat | grep sendmail
smmsp    sendmail   444   3  dgram  -> /var/run/log
root     sendmail   441   3  dgram  -> /var/run/log
root     sendmail   441   4  tcp4   127.0.0.1:25          *:*

Is my mail setup wrong in some way?
