Well, I don't recall doing anything special - I simply ran the xorg configure command and it made a basic xorg.conf for me. Copied it, and then tweaked resolution and a few other things. Did you go through that process? I would suggest posting your xorg.conf and the error that you get when trying it, as a new thread to freebsd-questions@ or freebsd-mobile@. I'm on -mobile so I'll try to help you there.
