Hello- I know this isn't a question for the this mailing list, i have tried this grub mailing list and did not get a response. I am trying to install grub into the mbr of my hard drive from a floppy without installing the menu. Here are the step I am taking to do so. In freebsd I created a grub boot floppy. Then I created another floppy (formated ufs) and copied the stage1 and stage2 files onto it. I boot the machine with the grub boot floppy and then i insert the floppy with the stage1 and 2 files on it. I then type the command: find /boot/grub/stage1 (fd0) find /boot/grub/stage2 (fd0) then i type: root (fd0) install=/boot/grub/stage1 d (hd0) /boot/grub/stage2 0x8000 p (works fine) I removed the floppy and reboot, but get the error : GRUB read error Can someone point out what I am doing wrong? I have been looking through the docs and it seems like i am doing everything correctly. thanks, Brian To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
