I've installed Matlab Release 12 under 4-Stable; it cannot find /dev/ptmx and complains: | MATLAB was unable to open the pseudo-tty master device /dev/ptmx. | The unix() and ! commands will not work in this MATLAB session. Other | commands which depend upon unix() and ! will also fail. Please check | with your system administrator and confirm that this device exists with | the proper permissions. | | | < M A T L A B > | Copyright 1984-2000 The MathWorks, Inc. | Version 6.0.0.88 Release 12 | Sep 21 2000 This causes some difficulties and I haven't been able to find any solutions or work arounds in the archives. This is on a recently updated machine: | knock [rdmurphy]% uname -a | FreeBSD knock.econ.vt.edu 4.3-STABLE FreeBSD 4.3-STABLE #0: | Fri Jun 1 11:31:50 EDT 2001 | rdmurphy@knock.econ.vt.edu:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/KNOCK i386 | knock [rdmurphy]% pkg_info | grep linux_base | linux_base-6.1 The base set of packages needed in Linux mode Any suggestions?
