Just went and got - libc-2.1.2-11.i386.rpm from the redhat site, installed it in /usr/compat/linux with - rpm --ignoreos --root=/usr/compat/linux --nodeps -i glibc-2.1.2-11.i386.rpm and voila it works! Thanks to Marcel, for the glibc2.1 suggestion ...
