Thanks for your quick response. Yes, I did try the port. As far as I know
doing a 'make install' inside the port's directory should do the trick, but
that didn't work either. It came up with a string stop-errors as well,
something about DES if I remember it correctly. I've been seeing too many
lines of compiler output already ;-)

did you try the ports collection ?
to wit: /usr/ports/print/ghostscript-afpl-nox11
should do the thing - of course you have to configure lpr or whatever
you like later on. for that, have a look into the handbook:
/usr/share/doc/en/books/handbook/
