A new cable fixed the problem. The old terminator says "SE/LVD", but it was
appearently broken.

The old server was taken off-line because of its inability to probe the
disks; a diskcrash was assumed, but as it was a proxy server, it didn't
matter much. So it was the cable, not the disks. Anyway, it will be a nice
upgrade from a 350MHz machine.
