Thanks to all who wrote about the DLINK-DFE570TX. I had no idea quad port NICs were so cheap.
According to Dlink's website the DFE570TX is capable of delivering a bandwidth of 800 Mb/s. Is this just the marketing department distorting the facts? Since 4 x 100 Mb = 400Mb I'm guessing they're referring to full Duplex operation, i.e. 400Mb/s send + 400Mb/s receive = 800Mb/s?? Also, how does one configure these things? Do you just set all the ports to the same IP address, or is it more complicated than that?
I read an article a while back about tuning Samba. In this article they made a reference to "binding" one of the CPUs in an SMP machine to the NIC. Is this possible under FreeBSD (4.1)? Can someone point me at a URL which tells how to do it? So far my searches haven't turned up anything useful.
Thanks in advance,
~Brandon
