Daniel, the problem was solved using the output from this and another bug report a short while ago. Boris is the one who was spending the time on it, so please don't get this upset. The "after X minutes" clue was actually the most relevant bit, as NT tends to drop all SMB mounts after a short period of inactivity. Windows reconnects automatically.
