I can confirm this affects 15.0-RELEASE too. On a newly upgraded laptop with
Intel 8260 AC wireless devices, even with firmware installed sysctl
net.wlan.devices shows no device, dmesg throws the same error message. With the
proposed renaming of iwm8000C to iwm8000Cfw and adding the entry in
/boot/loader.conf, WiFi starts to work as previously on 14.3-RELEASE.
