It doesn't if one pkg_delete's portupgrade and yet still have binaries needing the compat libs. We have had great success due to our central, easy to admin /etc/rc.conf. If I, a 9 year FreeBSD committer, didn't know where /usr/local/lib/compat/pkg is 'ldocnfig'ed, then it is too hidden and makes administrating FreeBSD like Linux. -- -- David (obrien@FreeBSD.org)
