!I'm trying to introduce a friend who lives in a different state !to the wonderful world of BSD. He's seen reports that there are !problems with suspend/resume on his laptop (Toshiba Satellite !1115-S103), and he's also having installation problems (hangs !after he skips the kernel configuration step). ! !- From looking at mailing list archives, I gather the workaround !for the installation problem is to disable the EISA bus. ! !The last report of apm brokenness on Toshiba laptops I can !find, however, was from almost a year ago. Does that mean it's !been fixed since that time, or is it just that nobody's asked? :-) We tried FreeBSD 4.x-R on a (then) current Satellite model in October 2001. About the only thing that we could not get to work was APM suspend/resume. We ended up sending it back to Toshiba & "up-grading" to a Satellite Pro 4600; APM suspend/resume works 99.9 % (or so) of the time, currently with 4.7-R. The only thing that isn't yet supported is the internal miniPCI modem. -- Gary E.
