This does circumvent the stability problem, the machine survies numerous kernel builds, bonnie(s) over the ocean and back, as well as anything X. But, it's slow as a molasse now. To be precise, at least twice as slow as it was anyway already with L2 cache. So now, with the SMP option enabled I am back to where I was with L2 cache and UNI. I am still hoping that this is not a hardware problem which cannot be fixed (after all, it works just fine and dandy in UNI). Is there anything I can do/debug to make a solution more likely? Or, would some kind SMP soul please speak up to point out that undocumented kernel option option fix_intergraph_TD4_SMP_L2_problem for rouge SMP hardware? Seriously, I went through LINT, but the only thing I found regarding L2 seems to be enabled only on some non-Intel CPUs. Any pointers are most welcome!
