Hi,
I reinstalled my FreeBSD client machine last night with 2.2-GAMMA
(after a harddisk crash & replacement harddisk).
I copied all my backed up /etc files that I had previously used
on this machine. These included a working setup for NIS client.
Passwd & Group are distributed from the ypserver.
The wierd thing is that now I can login with my normal userid and
things seem to be OK. The id command returns my uid & gids. A
"ypcat passwd" prints out the passwd file from the server, so far
so good.
BUT....
(1) Attempts to start pine fail. I get an error message saying that
pine doesn't know who I am and that attempts to read my login name
failed.
(2) Commands of the form: cd ~mark fail with 'Unkown user'.
(3) My CDE login fails with unkown user.
(4) I attempted to stop the ypserv daemon on the server and restart
with -debug but then all client calls timeout.
Anybody have any ideas on what I can have missed???
Regards/Mark
PS Pls CC replies to mark@seeware.DIALix.oz.au, I'm not sure if I will
get the chance to read email at work again today.
