In absolutely dumbest terms, it means: 1) If *I* allocate it, it's *my* responsibility to free it 2) If I have to call a function to do something, I have to call a function to undo it 3) If I have to access data, I'll call a function to do it. 4) Everything is data opaque (no "promiscuous" knowledge) 5) All operations are reversible 6) Etc. ...all sorts of good things.
