Resource requirements are much less than the latest KDE, and Unity is even more unworkable. KDE and Gnome have got very bloated in the last few years, IMHO and less intuitive. They seem to be going backwards. The multiple desktop feature is one of the main things that set Unix-style desktops way ahead of Windows, and now they have become harder to use.
