:I haven't had a chance to do more than a minimal amount of testing,

    I'll have a chance to do some testing tonight now that I have the
    swap-full fixes rolling down the hill.   The two-level approach
    looks a lot cleaner - we should be able to solve whatever
    performance/load/scaleability issues arise with it.
