It fails when kernel format is ELF, probably due to some dependency on the actual layout of the file. >How-To-Repeat: 1. install ELF kernel 2. boot: -c and change some values 3. dset reports error, and doesn't set the values permanently >Fix: The problem can be worked around by not using dset. Recently added sysctl machdep.uc_devlist exports changed values. These values can be simply formatted to form a valid /kernel.config file, which can be loaded on startup.
