Oh, but I can. How many KB would be appropriate?

Highlights are

-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 1955761 May 10 00:30 gnome
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 636835 May 10 02:46 kde2
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 2694 May 2 16:02 xemacs21

let's proceed with the latter.

Make sure the Makefile and distinfo file (/usr/ports/editors/xemacs-packages/distinfo)
are up to date. If you are absolutely sure you want to override this
check, type "make NO_CHECKSUM=yes [other args]".

OK, I've noticed the hint to define NO_CHECKSUM to be 'yes'. So?
This is not the very first time I installed xemacs...

That's a different discussion entirely. Usually it starts with RTFM.
To which I would answer but I did RTFM!

But now you're saying well... if it did not work then you did something
wrong. Period.

The lack of manpower I dig. No argument there.

But that does not mean it's fine to release ports that will or even
can not install. Again, it's not like it's very bleak but it sure does
feel like it is happening more regurarly recently than it did in the
(near) past. Feels bad to me.

A specious answer, did you really mean to say I'm a show off? Flippant
I could've conde, yet specious... Nah.

What I was trying to bring across was something that Bert Driehuis
by private email picked up, to wit, that MS software at least would
sort of run; whereas I'm beginning to get the impression that the
same does not necessarily hold true for FreeBSD ports anymore.

Still, to equate a visually pleasing question with a question that
does not need answering... Well.... I ask you...
